Abstract

Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is a vegetable plant that can be used as an ingredient in various food preparations. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of best treatment of Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) and nitrogen fertilizer dosage on growth and yield of common bean. This research was conducted in the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Brawijaya University, which is located in the Jatimulyo Village, Lowokwaru District, Malang City from February to May 2023. This research was arranged in a factorial randomized block design (RBD) consisting of two factors, the first factor is Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria and the second factor is nitrogen dosage with 4 levels. Observations were made on growth and  yield parameters. Growth observations were carried out destructively and non-destructively, while yield observations were made at the time of harvesting. Growth observations were made from 2 WAP with intervals from 7 DAP to 35 DAP on 5 plant samples. Observations included: plant length, number of leaves, leaf area, number of branches, flowering time, number of pods, pod length, pod weight, pod yield per hectare. The application of PGPR resulted in better growth and yield than treatment without PGPR. A dose of 138 kg ha-1 of nitrogen fertilizer can increase the growth and yield of common bean better than a lower dosage of nitrogen fertilizer. The PGPR treatment with the addition of nitrogen fertilizer at a dose of 138 kg ha-1 produced the best interaction compared to other treatment combinations.
